Are you really fit?

Many athletes understand the jargon and function of the equipment they use, whether it’s bike components, shoe design, or sports drinks. But when it comes to the more important tools—the parts of the human body—most are at a loss on how to properly maintain and fix them. An example is when trying to build fitness to get faster and stronger, all while the body’s immune system, muscles, bones or intestines are breaking down. This imbalance between fitness and health is the most common reason individuals don’t reach their athletic potential.

Manual Biofeedback

Manual biofeedback addresses neuromuscular imbalance due to a wide range of problems. It can be used in children and adults of all ages who have problems from local muscle injuries to more serious brain and spinal cord injuries. This therapy helps restore muscle balance by strengthening weak muscles and relaxing tight ones.

Six Week Challenge

Living healthy and fit is the way to live a life fulfilled. With a new year comes new energy and motivation, so take advantage of it and make a change for the better. One definitive way to do that is to take the Circuit25 six week challenge with me.

Holiday Health: Danger

Halloween is the start of the so-called “holiday season.” It’s an international event. Millions more children—and adults—of all ages gobble down pounds of sweets for days and weeks after Halloween, finishing just in time for the next holiday feeding frenzy.

Stop smoking without putting on weight

" According to Deborah Lycett, consultant dietitian and researcher at the University of Birmingham, people gain on average 5kg (11lbs) in the year after they stop smoking. But she urges prospective quitters not to let the prospect of weight gain deter them in their goal. She points out that the benefits of stopping smoking more than make up for the negatives of putting on weight. Although you may have gained a few pounds, you've stopped smoking and taken a big step toward a healthier life. "

Connecting the Dots

Many athletes understand the jargon and function of the equipment they use, whether it’s bike components, shoe design, or sports drinks. But when it comes to the more important tools—the parts of the human body—most are at a loss on how to properly maintain and fix them. An example is when trying to build fitness to get faster and stronger, all while the body’s immune system, muscles, bones or intestines are breaking down.

Knee Pain: It's All In Your Thighs

Referred pain is when one part of the body feels the pain originating from another part of the body. The tricky part is that you won’t necessarily have pain from the originating source. Hence, it’s sometimes difficult to pinpoint the pain’s headquarters. And in the case of knee pain, it’s most likely stemming from your thighs.

Booze, You Snooze

"Tying one on" may make it harder to take it off later. Especially if you show up to one of our classes hung-over. It can result in a brutal experience. But we get that people like to have a drink here or there (I’ve been guilty of it myself!), and we don’t suggest that our clients should not drink while they train. But just like everything else in life, take it in moderation.

Break A Sweat

Break A Sweat Sweating is the body’s way of cooling down and regulating body temperature. It’s a naturally healthy way to purge toxins and increase your metabolism. But ""binge sweating"" - sweating solely for the purposes of losing weight - is not good for the body. Never heard that term, you say? You may be guilty of it without even knowing it.

Disc Slip-Up

No matter how good of shape you’re in, anyone can get a compressed disc. I have one, and I’m a personal trainer. Yet, I’ve been struggling with pain in my hand for years now, all resulting from a single compressed disc in my neck.
