There have been serious financial problems in the club, when it came down on the verge of getting closed in 1986, which was saved by a group which was led by then Board Member and now, the Chairman of the club, Steve Gibson. Middlesbrough Football Club has also won the League cup n the year 2004, which incidentally has been it s first and only major trophy till date. Former captain of the club, Gareth Southgate is the current manager since 7th June 2006.

The traditional colors of the Middlesbrough Football Club have been Red with a few variations of white. The latest stadium of Middlesbrough Football Club was named by the unanimous vote by the supporters of the club in 1995 and thus Riverside Stadium came into picture. Earlier it had the seating capacity of 30000 which was later expanded to more than 35000 capacities in 1998.
