The Rolex Milgauss model is a well known model and is known as a collector`s item. This model was introduced in 1956 by Rolex with a reference number or a model number of 6451. This Milgauss model was designed with the prime emphasis on it being an antimagnetic watch that could be used by those working in power plants or medical facilities where there are a number of different objects that are magnetic and could cause disturbance when you are working.
The model of Milgauss that is being used currently is known to be equipped with anti-magnetic alloy that makes it easier to work and does not disrupt or affect the efficiency of the watch. The world Milgauss comes from a Latin term which means one-thousand and this model watches can sustain a magnetic flux density of 1000 gauss.
The original Milgauss is similar to another model of the Rolex which is Submariner. The Milgauss only had two different models being the original 6451 and the 1019 before it was discontinued in 1988. The Rolex Milgauss is a model that is wanted by many Rolex collectors due to it having a very low level of sales and not being as popular as the other models. An example of this can be that recently a Rolex Milgauss was sold for over $32,000 by Tiffany & Co.
Despite being discontinued, the Rolex Milgauss was bought back into the market in 2007 with a model number 116400. There are currently 3 versions available, the white or black dial with a standard sapphire crystal, the Glace Verte or the Anniversary model with a black dial having a different design and a green tinted sapphire crystal.
The Rolex Milgauss is a collector`s item and if a person gets his hand on a Rolex Milgauss then he should definitely purchase it.
